Another year, another BHIM/SM rivalry.
Ghana’s Reggae/Dancehall heavyweights; Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale are once again at the center of debates after the full list of nominees for the 2019 3Music Awards were announced.
Taking the past lustrum (half-decade) into consideration, the names that first hit our mind at the mention of Reggae/Dancehall in Ghana are Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. The pair have not only been at each other’s throat in war-of-words but also breaking records, setting new milestones and battling neck-to-neck for prestigious awards locally and globally.
And once again both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy stand out as the most nominated artists with 11 nominations apiece at this year’s 3Music Awards and a race for who wins more awards will play a major role on the score cards after the awards ceremony.
The pair face-off directly in eight (8) categories namely, Song of the Year, Music Man of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song, Reggae/Dancehall Act, Afrobeats Song, Album of the Year, Fan Army and Digital Act of the Year.
Shatta Wale also got nominated in the Video of the Year and Viral Song of the Year categories without Stonebwoy, however the Bhim Nation president also bagged a nomination from the Hiplife category after his collaborative effort with African football icon cum musician Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet.
BET Award nominee Kwesi Arthur followed keenly with 9 nominations following a stellar year; beating Africa’s most decorated rapper Sarkodie who nabbed an impressive 8 nominations following a rather quiet year.
Other top nominations include King Promise (7), R2bees, Medikal, Patience Nyarko (6), Adina, KiDi, Kuami Eugene (5), Ponobiom, Guilty Beats, Wendy Shay, Diana Hamilton, La Meme Gang, Akwaboah (4)
