Ghanaian highlife singer Kumi Guitar has revealed how a fan backlash on his person and family psychologically, emotionally and physically affected his mother.
The star had recorded a diss track to label mate, Stonebwoy, directly after a concert at the University of Ghana that resulted in Zylofon Cash properties and paraphernalia being destroyed and several label acts, including himself, failing to perform.
The act apparently instigated by Stonebwoy was the final straw in a series of events which forced Kumi to record a spontaneous diss track and leak it without the knowledge of his label.
But he clearly did not factor in the fan backlash that followed with furious fans turning on him and allegedly directing threats towards his family.
And his mom was clearly destroyed by the fallout from the events….
The star revealed on Hitz FM on Thursday (8 Nov, 2018) how his distraught mother took an unusual turn from her regular 10-minute hearty phone call to breaking down on the phone in a 62-minute tear-laden convo with the highlife singer to persuade him to down tools or (maybe) quit music altogether.
That action obviously played a part in that well documented event at the 3 Music Awards when Stonebwoy blasted the guitar-playing crooner when he went to apologize backstage at the Fantasy Dome.
Kumi Guitar did not confirm if he sought to apologize to the former VGMA artiste of the Year or if he did it only to calm his sulking mother
