Former member of all-girl group Blu 3, Jackie Chandiru, has vowed to switch to gospel after being delivered by Uganda’s renowned celebrity pastor, Robert Kayanja, from a grave condition that almost cost her life.
The 34year old diva had been reported dead countless times by Ugandan press. She was often hospitalized as her condition deteriorated after battling with drug addiction, alternating between rehab and relapse.
And after being ministered to at the Miracle Centre Cathedral, Ms Chandiru stood before the packed auditorium and testified before the packed auditorium “I died several times. God has given me a second chance.”
Jackie Chandiru had been inactive in the entertainment industry for the best part of the last four years due to the drug-related ailment.
A source close to the star revealed that she had spent thousands of dollars seeking professional help to no avail, hence resorting to the televangelist known for hosting several of Uganda’s biggest celebrities, including Jose Chameleone, Eddie Kugere and Cute Kaye. Most of these stars had sought the charismatic cleric for spiritual blessings.
Miss Chandiru would be the latest, and perhaps the most impacted after revealing her plans to transition from secular to gospel.
First, she wowed the congregation with an angelic rendition of “Awesome God”. Then she declared her Christian music intentions. Earlier, the impressed Ps Kayanja had urged her to use her second chance to serve God with her music talent, nodding in affirmation.
Good thing her troubles are finally over now.
