Former Reality TV star, Nii Soul, has taken to social media platform Instagram to express disappointment at the Christian society in Ghana for staying mute over a song that tarnishes the image of the faith.
Wendy Shay’s new song, Ma Sakra, literally translated I have repented was released this week in Ghana and is already the number one trending song on YouTube. But the lyrics follow a worrying trend of subliminal and sexually implicit content made popular by reigning Ghanaian artiste of the year, Ebony Reigns, who passed in February 2018.
Nii Soul has been left unimpressed by the controversial Ms. Shay’s decision to muddy Christianity by seemingly implying an aspect of the foundations of Christianity, repentance, as a tool for humor and her profanity propaganda.
The Urban Gospel singer, who thrice finished runner up at reality shows- twice during the TV3 Mentor show by the mononym Joe and once as Nii at the MTN Project Fame West Africa where he was beaten by Nigerian sensation Iyanya- called out Christians and the church for their silence and phlegmatic stance to issues that ridiculed the faith, urging them to rise up against such music and artistes.
Last year, Patapaa Amisty, creator of Ghana’s viral hit single One Corner came under all sorts of attack for the suggestive dance craze that accompanied the song while lady stars such as Ebony Reigns, Kaakie and Mzbel have all faced the wrath of Christians on related topics in the last decade.
