US Power Couple, Sean Carter and wife Beyoncé Knowles Carter, best known as Jay Z and Beyonce have sent South Africa into a frenzy after the couple’s media team landed in Jo’berg ahead of the Global Citizen Festival which comes off Sunday, 2nd December, 2018.
Over 100 thousand adoring fans are expected to converge at South Africa’s 90,000 seater capacity FNB Stadium to watch diva Beyoncé make a return to the country for the first time in 15 years, this time with her husband, to join an entire nation celebrate 100 years since Nelson Mandela was born and 5 years since his death.
And if the occasion is to mark Madiba’s centenary year, then this surreal list of nearly 40 superstar global celebrities expected to appear on stage at the concert will most likely bring all of South Africa to a standstill, the world talking about this for decades- just like it has the fallen anti-apartheid hero all these years.
Besides Jigga and Queen Bey, the star-studded list of guests expected to entertain at the event include Ed Sheeran, Usher, Pharrel Williams, Chris Martin, and Eddy Vedder. Others are superstar African acts such as Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, D’banj, Femi Kuti and Cassper Nyovest.
Former Queen of TV Talkshow, Oprah Winfrey along with Tyler Perry, Trevor Noah, Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle and Forest Whitaker head a list of A-list celebrities that will host the free-ticketed event which is already being talked up as potentially the biggest in the history of Africa.
This is the gathering of the most prominent music stars across several worlds and genres, gathering of the A-list comedic entertainers, the heavyweights of media and cinema merging to craft perhaps the world’s greatest concert in honour of Africa’s biggest legend in Africa’s most showbiz-savvy nation!
