“No…” That was Kuami Eugene’s first response to a question from host, Andy Dosty on Hitz FM to ascertain his opinion on legendary rapper Okyeame Kwame’s claim that the star was better than Wizkid and Davido.
Okyeame Kwame, still the only artiste to have won the Artiste of the Year category distinctly as a member of a group [Akyeame] and then as a solo artiste, had claimed earlier this week that rising Highlife acts, Kwame Eugene and KiDi, were better singers than superstar Nigerian Afrobeats duo, Davido and Wizkid.
But Kuami Eugene diplomatically disagreed with the rapper’s assertion, explaining that he still had his L Plates on and genuinely considered Wizkid and Davido as prime references for his own growth and development.
Earlier this month, www.channelforafrica broke the news of Nigeria’s Rudeboy, formerly of PSquare, claiming Ghanaian musicians were not smart before Okyeame Kwame’s claims. However, Eugene chose to disagree with the older Kwame possibly to avoid being drawn into the still flaming cross-countries controversy.
Kuami Eugene was in the studio to promote his latest single ‘Walahi’.
