Grammy Award winning reggae band, Morgan Heritage, has collaborated with top Nigerian reggae-dancehall star, Patoranking, for a weeklong shooting session in Nairobi- Kenya, just a week after the band shut down the East African nation with a memorable performance on New Year’s Eve.
Morgan Heritage has something of a heavy following in Africa, and last year began a tour of the continent on their #AfricaJamicaTour. The group is expected to perform in locations within Tanzania, Zanzibar and Ghana, having already performed in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kenya.
But it was in Kenya where the group best thrilled. The “Down by the River” hitmakers sent fans into a frenzy with their scintillating stage act, climaxing the performance by joining Tanzania’s Diamond PLatinumz- the latter himself set to wed a Kenyan beauty- for the performance of hit single “Halleluyah” and the successful collaboration “Africa x Jamaica”. It was the first time both were performing together on any stage in Africa.
And their next act with a top African act? Patoranking. The band roped in the Nigerian star soon after he dropped his newest single “Everyday” on New Year’s Day to commence shooting for a music video titled “Pay Attention”.
The five-member band- all children of US-based reggae singer Denroy Morgan- took to twitter to describe the video shoot for their next single featuring Patoranking as something like a ‘movie’.
The “Pay Attention” video, featuring Patoranking, will be Morgan Heritage’s first release of 2019. It is being shot in several locations across Nairobi, including the 2 Rivers Mall, the Onyx, and the Maasai Mara. Other landmarks such as the Tribe Hotel Kenya and the Video Market have also allegedly been exploited for the music video.
